The Jerusalem Biennale has ended but Artspace Story continues. You are warmly invited to come see this beautiful exhibition that tells the story of a unique Jerusalem gallery told through a selection of the outstanding artists exhibited since Artspace opened its doors in 1994. Most works on show are for sale. Many other works in the gallery by these artists are also available.

ABOUT ARTSPACE STORY
ARTSPACE is a Jerusalem gallery representing leading Israeli artists. It is also my home. Located in Jerusalem’s German Colony, the house-turned gallery has been active since Fall 1994 when I opened ARTSPACE with an exhibit of Pamela Levy’s small works ; the show was held concurrently with the Tel Aviv Museum’s retrospective of Levy’s larger canvasses. Since that time the gallery has continued with new exhibits every few months. ARTSPACE features exhibitions as well as a permanent collection of works by Israeli artists including Meir Appelfeld, Silvia Bar-Am, Ruth Kestenbaum Ben-Dov, Hanna Doukhan, Farideh, Dalia Katav-Arieli, Amos Rabin, Anne Sassoon and Jordan Wolfson..
I never intended to open an art gallery. It happened organically, out of friendship and passion. I am an American-born poet. I write, translate, teach literature, have a large family. But art in Israel is as complex and compelling as the place it reflects, and Jerusalem, while not an art center like Tel Aviv, has a vibrant and exciting community of artists, a local population interested in its culture, and visitors who want to explore the city beyond its tourist attractions. For all of these reasons I responded to the idea of creating a gallery in my home and have been committed to the reality of an active ARTSPACE. While our home is a private space, I have opened it to the public for more than twenty-five years.
