Biography: was born in Kibbutz Ein-Hahoresh in 1948. He studied with Philip Guston at New York Studio School, and has exhibited at Bineth
Galley, the Israel Museum and has had two shows at ARTSPACE. A
landscapist and colorist whose works represent a return to “unmediated nature,” Kovner faces the desert and the neighborhoods of Jerusalem on cultural and historical borderlines. In his most recent work he has documented the orchards and haystacks that line the “old Israel.” |
